We're back!

How wonderful it is to be back in England - and how sad it was to leave Australia.

After emotional goodbyes we enjoyed a relaxing flight back to the UK. While in the air I had a long chat with one of the pilots, as it happens next week he and the captain are coming in for a tour of Parliament! Sadly this didn't help to keep Sophie & Kate in the manner to which they had become accustomed - business class.

Our arrival at Heathrow was amazing, straight through immigration (normally 30 minutes), the bags arrived after about 10 minutes (normally and hour), Penny & Godfrey were there on the other side waiting with two prestige German motorcars to whisk us home in no time (normally about 3 days journey on the tube).....oh, and the weather was magnificent (normally awful).

It is lovely to be home.

When we arrived in Australia we had almost four totally sleepless nights with the girls still on UK time. I can now confirm that it's true - babies like flying west. Kate (good baby) got the hang of being back on GMT immediately, Sophie (bad baby) has needed only a little bit of help.

Kind people left us meals, the Hawkeys who were house sitting, Penny & Godfrey and our friends Claire & John who live two doors down and have twins the same age as S&K (they understand!).

Stay tuned to DurhamRoad.org.uk in the next few days you can look forward to photos of the holiday, the Great Annual Tofu Count 2008 (Piedemonte's has lost its crown) and some of Adrian Lane's poetry.

In the meantime, click here.
