Researcher types who worked for someone with a marginal seat were yesterday walking around Parliament looking downtrodden, dishevelled, much like people who could be unemployed in a few weeks.
If there is an election called how bleak would the timing be for me - a fight to preserve my job in East Yorkshire and babies on the way in London! Thankfully, that's overstating the dilemma as the chap I work for has a comfy lead.
We should know if there will be an election in the UK this year by Tuesday 9th, or the Tuesday after at the latest. If Gordon Brown doesn't call it there will be a minor uproar. How funny it will be if an election campaign is played out in Australia and the UK at the same time.
I fear the forces for good will take a beating on both sides of the earth!
