Happy New Year

Happy New Year everybody. Apologies for my lack of blogging lately. News from the Thomas household is that today I returned to work, poor baby Sophie has a cold (I wish I could suffer it for her) and we have a giant hole in one of our walls that I intentionally created as part of a crazy scheme to make a walk in pantry!

At Christmas people were very generous to Sophie and Kate - overwhelmingly so (where will we put it all?). I became conscious how much Christmas has become about keeping China's economy roaring!

All the richies escaped Wimbledon for the week to their country houses (Wimbledon Village was a ghost town) and those who were still around graced our Church, Saint Lukes in Wimbledon Park with their annual visit to hear that baby Jesus came for a reason; to rescue us from ignoring God.

I got fewer gifts than the babies but I was particularly thankful for some little touches of Australiana; a Sherrin football, a bottle of Seppelt Tokay, a hand knitted wool beanie from Tassie, Paul Kelly's latest CD and a bound copy of Adrian Lane's brilliant poems which will hopefully be published soon. I have come to understand, from first hand experience, why Italian and Greek immigrants to Australia have worked so hard over the years to maintain their culture - to the advantage of us all.

That's wonderfully sweet Matt, but I think Sophie complains less than you when she's got a cold!!
