Virtual Life

At a gathering on the weekend a friend of ours told Anna she had been to her grandfathers funeral (in Australia) a few days before. Intrigued Anna probed. She discovered that she went to the service 'via skype' - using her sisters webcam enabled laptop with a 3G dongle (for the techies).

It doesn't end there.

As people were filing out of the church they sat 'her' on a stand next to the rest of the family and she thanked them for coming.

It gets better still!

'She' sat on a table, between the coffee and the cucumber sandwiches, for the duration of the wake to speak with the other mourners.

If only I'd heard about this before I went out and spent thousands on tickets to Australia for Leigh & Kate's wedding! Sue, could you make a bridesmaid's dress for a Dell XPS 1530?

Disclaimer: this is not a criticism of virtual attendance, just an observation of modern life

I'm sure I could make the Dell look quite fetching. Would this mean wedding dells!!
